Welcome to the Sandbox Cosplay Competition! A vibrant arena for cosplayers who pour their hearts into crafting their cosplay. We’re excited to highlight your exceptional creations and talents!
Our Construction Competition is an opportunity for you to showcase your amazing creative cosplay skills and talents!
Who can participate?
Anyone currently residing in New Zealand is eligible to join the competition. For participants under 16, we require a Guardian Consent Form, including your guardian’s contact details.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Online registration closes at 11:59 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2025.
The competition will be held at the Captain Bougainville Theatre in Forum North on Saturday, July 12, 2024, 3PM.
CREATE YOUR OWN CHARACTER COMPETITION
Showcase your artistic skills at our SANDBOX FANDOM FESTIVAL Art Competition!
We welcome artists of all ages who are inspired by Anime, Manga, Cartoon, Comic, and Game character design to create their own ORIGINAL CHARACTER.
RULES
- Artwork must be original creations by the submitting artist.
- No photo manipulation, AI-generated art, or photography.
- The person submitting the artwork must be its creator. Tracing or recoloring another person’s art is not allowed.
- Only completed works are eligible for entry. Sketches are allowed if they are refined.
- 2D Artwork size should not exceed A3.
IMPORTANT DATES
FRIDAY 11th JULY Artwork needs to be dropped off to Forum North between 10am – 5pm
SATURDAY 12th JULY Winner will be announced at the SANDBOX FANDOM FEST on the main stage. See event timetable (available on the day).
4pm Please collect your diorama from the display area.
If you cannot take your diorama home after the event, please collect from Forum North on Monday 14th July.

D I Y DIORAMA COMPETITION
Literally build your own world!
Let your imagination run wild as you design and build your own unique environment. Whether you want to create a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a lush fantasy kingdom, or the interior of a Neo-noir Spaceship – the possibilities are endless.
This competition is open to all ages and skill levels. The more you have built from scratch the better, so whether you’re a seasoned diorama builder or just starting out, we love to see your scene.

JUDGING CRITERIA
- Creativity: Originality and inventiveness of the diorama.
- Detail: Precision and accuracy in the construction.
- Presentation/Realism: Visual impact and overall aesthetic appeal.
- Skill: Quality of the build and techniques used.
