SANDBOX is a space for Te Tai Tokerau’s community to meet and share our mutual love for everything geek: A celebration of wonderful art, games, cosplay, animation, comics, music, tech and more!
Play games, show off your cosplay, enter competitions, check out the artist alley, enjoy performances, and come together to revel in all things pop culture and beyond!
About Us
The inaugural SANDBOX Fandom Festival took place in September 2023, as a wonderful celebration of nerd & geek culture in the beautiful North. 2024 will be even bigger and better!

Sandbox is a community-led event – organised by local pop culture enthusiasts with the support of local community groups and businesses.
Sandbox is inclusive. The festival is a sandbox of pop culture projects of all kinds, for everyone. Join us with your particular brand of nerdiness!
